Today is Earn Income Tax Credit (EITC) Day, celebrating the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit.
The Federal EITC is is a refundable tax credit for low- to moderate-income working individuals and couples, particularly those with children. The amount of the EITC depends on the recipient's income and the number of children.
Roughly 7,800 families in North Dakota do not file for the EITC when filing their taxes. This means they walked away from an average of $2,100 in 2016.
Check out this great video explaining the EITC and talk to your tax preparer about it.
