ND AFL-CIO: Weekly Update - May 7

Workers at Case, New Holland plant OK new contract

FARGO -- Workers at the CNH Industrial America plant in Fargo, which produces Case IH and New Holland brands, have overwhelmingly approved a new six-year contract with the company.
That’s according to Shannon Stucker, grand lodge representative for Local 2525 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace workers.
Stucker, who negotiated the new contract on behalf of the union, said the local union has about 430 members.
He said the weekend vote was overwhelmingly in favor of the new contract, which he said provides for pay increases and a good benefits package, including retirement benefits.

It took six days, but Arizona teachers are ending their walkout after the governor signed an education funding bill into law.
In marathon legislative negotiations that lasted overnight, both the House and Senate passed the bill before it went to Gov. Doug Ducey on Thursday morning.
